Christmas Morning!

Well we hope ya'll had a wonderful Christmas like we did. We spent Christmas Eve and Christmas morning here at the house. This is the first year we didn't haul everything up to mine or Wayne's parents house. It was really nice to sleep in our own beds and wake up and not have to wait for anyone.
Megan and Kaitlyn woke up at their normal time of 7:30 am and were just sitting in their beds talking to each other waiting for Wayne and I to get up. They were so sweet to let Wayne and I sleep in (if we wanted). I am sure this will not last much longer, but I am going to enjoy it while I can. Ty on the other hand was so asleep that even after Wayne and I got up set the camera up and the girls being all giggly on our bed he didn't even crack and eye. I had to wake him up.

Wayne likes to go and "make sure that every thing came", but he is really getting the camera ready for their reaction. The kids walked in and the girls got all excited and Ty didn't seem to notice anything different. We had to show him his Lighting McQueen bean bag chair to get a reaction out of him.
We started off with opening one at a time, but that lasted one gift and it became a free for all. Megan and Kaitlyn both got the one gift they asked for from Santa which was a leapster and Ty got cars, cars and more cars.

Wayne and I had decided to get a gift we could both enjoy and bought tickets to the AMA super cross finales in Las Vegas. Now I know what you are thinking that sounds like a gift more for Wayne then me, but let me assure you that I am just as excited as he is. I can name nearly all the riders and I can even tell you what bike they are riding. We get to meet the riders as well, so we are really excited.
Well since that was our agreement I didn't bother to buy anything else for Wayne. He on the other had decided to break our agreement and bought me a gorgeous ring. I love it! I am still a little peeved that he did it, but what are you going to do.

After we had breakfast we headed up to Utah County to spend the rest of Christmas with family. We ended up a my parents house first and enjoyed visiting and stuffing our faces with yummy food. Then we headed to Wayne's parents and did the same.

We spent Thursday though Sunday up there and other then Kaitlyn getting the 24 hour flu it was great! Thanks to Audra and Linn for putting up with us for 3 days.

New Coupon Blog

I have started a blog for the deals I have found using coupons. The blog address is www.cedarcitycoupons.blogspot.com . I have already made a few post, so take a look and start saving!

Christmas Letters from Santa

I found these really cute personalized Christmas Letters from Santa today while looking on PYP. I think they are cute and would be so fun for the kids. Here is a link to the site . This site also has a great deal on a Christmas book that you can personalize with your kids name in the story for only a penny plus shipping and handling it ends up being $4.00.

This would be a great Christmas present for any kid!

This post is all about belief. Here are the rules --some of your answers can't be religious. You should include at least one belief about food and one belief or unbelief that reflects your philosophy about life.

6 Things I believe:

I believe that God blesses you when you put in your part of the work
I believe that miracles happen
I believe in putting on comfy pj's and sipping hot cocoa while watching the first snow fall
I believe good friends make all the difference.
I believe (and know) if you take the time and put in the effort you can spend less to get more
I believe you should be able to eat ice cream and those calories shouldn't count.

6 Things I don't Believe:

I don't believe in getting something for nothing
I don't believe in Ghost stories (although I love to hear about them)
I don't believe that anything is impossible
I don't believe that is has taken me 10min to think of 6 things I don't believe
I don't believe in getting up before 7 am unless I have to.
I don't believe parents should live through their children.

6 Things I am not sure about:

I am not sure if my house will ever be as clean as all my friends houses.
I am not sure if I will finish all the projects I have started
I am not sure if I will be able to let any of my kids leave the house when they are ready
I am not sure if my carpet will survive one more year of Ty
I am not sure if I will ever go back to school
I am not sure if we will ever finish the basement or the backyard

Correction

As I was looking at my receipt this morning I realized that the milk I was suppose to get for free wasn't deducted. So I really only paid $87.37 for the first one. But then if you minus out the rebate on the popcorn, which is you buy three for $5 bucks you get $5 bucks back with a mail in rebate then I really only paid $82.37 on the first one. All in all I ended up paying $.77 per item. Not to shabby if I do say so myself.

Sarah, It's all your fault!

A little over a month ago my best friend Sarah talked me into trying the whole coupon shopping thing. I asked her if it was really worth it and after telling me that within the short time she had been using them she was able to get 7 months of food storage. Food storage had really been on my mind a lot at that time, so she told me about some of the basic techniques and I was on my way.

Now I am going to ask you a question that Sarah asked on her blog not to long ago.
How much would you pay for:
6 bags of Green Giant veggie steamers
7 bags of Birds Eye veggie steamers
2 gallons of milk
1 bag of Wholesome Goodness cat food
10 cans of Wholesome Goodness cat food
4 48 oz. bottles of Crisco cooking oil
8 tubs of Land o Lake butter
3 boxed of Jolly Time popcorn
1 15lbs. bag of Russet Potatoes
5 1 pound containers of table salt
5 boxes of baking soda
2 pks of McCormick gravy mixes
10 boxes of Lipton dry soup mix
8 cans of Del Monte vegies
4 cans of Campbell's beef gravy
4 cans of Campbell's cream of mushroom soup
4 cans of Swanson Broth
4 cans of Carnation Evaporated milk
3 boxes of Swiss Miss cocoa mix
6 boxes of Pillsbury brownie mix
4 boxes of Betty Crocker brownie mix
8 boxes of Kellogg's Cereal
or
8 boxes of Nestle cocoa mix
7 10 oz. bottles of Vaseline Lotion
4 boxes of Excedrin PM 50 ct
1 bottle of juice
2 treats for kids
or
10 packs of 80 ct wipes
4 dozen eggs
2 half gallons of Dryers Ice Cream
1 2 liter of A&W Root Beer
1 story book
1 coloring book
3 8oz. blocks of Cache Valley Cheese

Well on the first one without the sale or coupon I would have paid $240.32. I ended up only paying $89.97 that is a $150.35 savings.
on the second on I would have paid $60.45. I ended up paying $27.69 that is a $32.76 savings.
And on the last one I would have paid $67.63. I ended up paying $29.79 that is a $37.84 savings.

If it were not for Sarah's persistence I would be paying the before price. I am so thankful that she has taught me the tricks of the trade. I has made such a difference in our home. In 2 months I have nearly 4 months of food storage (if not more). Something that I have not been able to do in the 9 years Wayne and I have been married (not that I didn't try). I have been able to cut our food budget almost in half.

So, Sarah this is all your fault!
And I thank you every time I go shopping.

Ty turns Two

This past Friday was Tyson's second birthday. I can't believe that he is already two! He has grown so much this past year and I don't just mean physically. He has been talking in sentences and can keep up with his sisters. He is all boy with a little soft side. He has already started picking on his sisters and enjoys wrestling with his dad. He loves to give hugs and instead of hitting or pinching when he gets mad he hugs you to death. I love when I come home and he is running down the hall yelling "mommy".

Some of my favorite things about Ty are:
1. his hugs and kisses
2. his smile
3. his laugh
4. when he talks in his deep voice
5. when he squints when he is getting his picture taken
6. His love for football,vroom vrooms,horses
7. He loves to cuddle
8. he says funny things
9. he gets along with every kid he has met
10. he has no fear

Some of my favorite most recent memories of Ty:

The other day he was walking is some of my boots and one came off which caused him to trip and fall. He got up looked down at the boot and said "crap". I looked at him and asked him if he had just said crap and he said "yes mommy, crap"

The very same day I told Ty that his daddy was coming home and he was going to give him tickles and Ty looked at me with a very serious face and said "Oh great"

On another day we had just dropped of Kaitlyn and the others off at preschool and on the way home we stopped at a stop light and Ty said "mom dance" , so I danced and then I told him to dance and we danced back and forth until the car behind me honked because the light had turned green and we were still dancing.
I love just sitting back and watching Ty interact with others. I love especially watching him interact with Wayne. I am soo glad the the Lord has blessed us with a little rough and tumble boy. He has been just the opposite of the girls. He talks back, he runs from me, he screams in the store, he gets into everything he's not suppose to. In those moments he really ticks me off, but he makes my life interesting and keeps me on my toes.

I love my little man! Happy Birthday Ty!

Oct. 15th 2003 at 1:00p.m.

On this day in the year 2003 Kaitlyn Nicole Reaves was born at 1:00 p.m. Weighing 6lbs. 12oz. and 21 inches long. Kaitlyn decide to come into this world at the most inopportune time. I had just been given my epidural and had decided to try and get a little rest. Wayne and my dad decided that they would go and get some lunch. It had maybe been 15min when I new she was coming. I tried to reach the nurses call button, but it had been placed on a table to far for me to reach. About 3 min had past and I was about to yell for the nurse when she walked in and told me that the nurse call button kept going off and said that it must be broken because it had been going off a lot that day. I told the nurse what I was feeling and after a quick check she confirmed that feeling. The nurse left to go and call Dr. Ludlow and I was once again all alone. I was starting to hyperventilate when my mom came in and calmed me down. Dr. Ludlow was 15 min away and nobody could find Wayne. The nurses kept telling me to wait (yeah right) until Dr. Ludlow could get there. They finally paged Wayne and he came soon after. By 1:00 p.m. Kaitlyn was born. She is some what of a miracle baby. We found out that soon after she was born she had a double placenta (which I was told is very rare) and if she had moved a quarter of an inch to one side she would have severed a major vein and we both would have died.

Kaitlyn was a very good baby. She was always smiling. When she was 3 months old she got RSV. She woke up one morning with both eyes gubbered shut and as soon as she heard mine and Wayne's voices she started to smile. When we got one eye open her smile got even bigger. When she turned 4 months old she started getting teeth in two at a time and had a full set by the time she was 9 months old. Kaitlyn started crawling at 11 months and walking at 13. When she started to get hair on her head we were very suprised to see that it was red. Her hair never layed flat it always stuck up like she had been shocked or something. Kaitlyn has always wanted to do everything that Megan does, so by the time she was 2 she was going in the big potty just like her sister.
Kaitlyn has an amazing personality. She is extremely funny and has me in hysterics nearly everyday. She can be as rough and crude as the boys and as sweet as the girls. She loves to sing and dance and plays dress up almost everyday. She is best friends with her sister and is best buddies with her brother. Some days she is the most outgoing little girl I have ever seen and other days she is the most shy little girl I've ever seen. She loves anything Barbie and enjoys watching movies and looking at pictures. She loves everything about preschool including her best buds Easton, Cole and Dawson. She love to dance and sing and is never lacking in the imagination department.

I feel extremely blessed to have had her in my life for the last 5 years. I can't wait to see what the future brings. I want Kaitlyn to know that I love her and am very proud of all the many great and wonderful things she has done. I am grateful that she picked me to be her mother. Happy Birthday Squishy! We love you!

Beautiful Places!

Yesterday Wayne took me, Kaitlyn and Ty with him to Circleville to spray some stuff on a bridge that he helped manage/build for Schmit Construction. As we were driving through some of the valleys on the way over and then through Cedar Breaks on the way home we were talking about how after 10 years of Wayne living in Utah he is still in awe of the scenery. I on the other had have become a little desensitized by all the beauty that surrounds us, it just doesn't effect me the same way. This morning I was looking at my dad's blog of all the pictures he has taken on his many weekend four-wheeler trips. As I was looking at them some of them give me that "awe" feeling that Wayne and I were talking about yesterday. After looking at a few I realized that some of my favorite pictures that my dad has taken were all taken here in Utah. So in conclusion of all my ramblings I have decided that even though I have lived here most of my life I shouldn't take it for granted. I need to become more adventurous and explore my surroundings more often. And work on getting that "awe" feeling back.

I thought I would share some of my favorite pictures that my dad has taken. Let me remind you these were all taken right here in our own back yard
This one is my Favorite

Ignorance makes for a lot of Hard Work

In my early years when Wayne and I were dating he would always invite me to go to tho gym and workout with him and I would kindly decline. One day Wayne asked me why I wouldn't go to the gym with him and in my youth of ignorance I said " Have you seen my mother I have her genes. I will never be fat." If there was ever a sentence I could have stricken from the record it would be that one. Now, I can say that I was active when I was younger and that I never struggled with my weight until after I had Kaitlyn. At that point I had the working out thing down pat, but I still wanted to eat whatever I wanted and I did. By the time I got prego with Ty I was at what I thought was my biggest ever. Then Ty came out and then I realized was now at my biggest weighing in at 160 lbs. At that moment I was sure that I would be able to change my eating and get into a good routine and get the weight off in six months. Well a year later I had only lost 5 lbs (sad I know). Once again I had the exercise thing down, but my eating still lacking.
One day when I was watching Oprah and she said something that has stuck with me ever since. She said that every time you mess up with your diet and you tell yourself "I will start tomorrow" or for me it was "I will start Monday" and you don't and you mess up again and you say "I will start tomorrow" you are lying to yourself. That hit me like a ton of bricks, I was lying to myself a lot.

I found a workout program called P90X. It is hard and you sweat and it kicks your butt everyday, but I love it! I went from not being able to do one push-up to doing 10. I can see the definition in my arms and legs. I didn't reach my goal in 90 days, but I know it is because I still have room to improve with my eating. I am working on it and hope to make my goal by January 1st.
Here are my stats thus far:
Day 1- Day 93
weight: 157 -weight 151
chest: 38" -chest: 36 1/4"
waist: 36"- waist: 34 1/4"
hips: 40" -hips: 38"
r arm: 11 3/4" -r arm: 12"
l arm: 12"- l arm: 12"
r thigh:25" -r thigh: 24"
l thigh: 25" -l thigh: 24"

I want everyone to know that if I didn't have such amazing friends and an amazing husband I would have never had the motivation to take on such an extreme fitness program. I look at Camille and the strength she has when it comes to what she eats. When she has her mind set it seems like nothing stops her from her goal ( not even the sweets). She has totally set the bar. I love Kelly's perseverance and determination to get fit and stay healthy. I love Amanda and Kathryn's love for fitness. I am thankful for the example my mom has set for me. These women have been a great influence to me . I am so thankful that Wayne has supported this life style change without complaining once. I am also thankful to my kids for giving me the full hour and 20 minutes each day without interruption. I can honestly say that I am no longer ignorant to what it takes to stay fit and healthy. I just wish it hadn't taken me sooo long.

What a Wonderful Man!

So Monday started out like any other day. I got the kids up and ready for school... blah blah blah. Wayne was suppose to be going on a business trip for work, but it was canceled last minute. You see Wayne comes home and has lunch with me everyday. Sometimes it's just us two and sometimes Kaitlyn and Ty join us. Wayne called me that morning to inform me that he wouldn't be missing our "lunch date". We decide to meet at home at 1 p.m. Ty and I dropped Kaitlyn at school and I stopped at the bank to make a much needed deposit. This made me 10 min late for my lunch date with Wayne. When I arrived home I looked at Ty and he was out like a light. I gently brought him inside and put him in his bed. When I walked in my room to put my shoes away there it was... a single purple rose (my favorite)laying on the bed. I was surprised to say the least. I love when my hunny does little gestures that shows me that he loves me. Wayne(like most men) is not the most romantic person, but he has improved by leaps and bounds in the last several months.

I want to take a minute and list some of the things that I love about my own personal "Southern Gentleman"
1. I love his blue eyes
2. I love his accent especially when it gets thicker while talking to family.
3. i love his bald head ( he really does look better without hair)
4. I love when he snuggles with me in the morning
5. I love his laugh
6. I love his love for our children
7. I'm thankful that he holds the priesthood
8. I love the way he looks in his dirt bike gear (grrrr)
9. I love that he is a hard worker (at work and at play)
10. I love his soft kisses
11. I love watching him play with the kids
12. He has THE nicest butt I have ever seen!
13. His ability to handle money (something I really suck at)
14. I love when he lets me push him out of his comfort zone...whether it be with his clothes or food or anything really.
15. I love him...more than anything else in the world...He is my Edward (cheesy I know, but who else could I compare him to!?)

I'm the Hottest one in my class!

Now just imagine if you will. I'm driving my cute little 4 year old daughter to her first day of Pre-school listening to her one of her favorite Camp Rock songs. When she asks me to turn down the music. I turn down the music to hear "Mom, I'm the hottest one in my class." You can only imagine the look on my face. I nearly burst out laughing, but when I saw her face she was very serious. So I asked her who told her that. She named a girl in her class from last year and proceeded to tell me that this little girl would tell Kaitlyn that she was hot every time they were at school.
Kaitlyn has been waiting it seems like forever to go back to school. She picked out her outfit the night before and also told me what hairstyle she wanted. As she waited for the time to pass she watched Barbie and the Diamond Castle. We ended up getting there 30 min early. I took some pictures of her and Ty outside just trying to waste some time. I finally let her go inside and Mrs. Orton took Kaitlyn to the backpack hooks and asked her to find her name. She went down the first row then down the second. As she started her way back up the second row she looked and her teacher and said "this is tricky". She found her hook and we took another picture. We then went into her classroom and she found her name tag, and began to draw with the stencils that were on the table. I took a few more pictures then gave her a hug and said good-bye. I love the way that Kaitlyn can be totally fearless. She walked into that classroom as though she never left it. She did however point out all the changes that had been made. Her sweet little smile just melts my soul. I never have to worry with Kaitlyn I know that she can handle whatever is put in front of her and can usually turn it in to something funny. She is my little baby girl who is growing up, it seems a lot faster then her sister did at this stage in life. Wayne and I want Kaitlyn to know that we love her and are so proud of her.
P.S. Kaitlyn loves her two best buds...She loves being the only girl... and I think she like it when she gets to act silly like the boys.

Fun in the Sun!

This past weekend while Wayne was out desert racing the kids and I met up with the Shank's, Springer's, Hill's and Sorensen's for a day of fun in the sun. The girls were so excited to be going back to the "beach" that as soon as the woke up they put their swimsuits on. It seems like they asked every 30 min if it was time to go. We headed out around 11:00 and made it to Sand Hallow around 12:00. Once we found out where Camille had made "camp" for the day we tracked across the extremely hot sand. When we arrived the girls dropped the things they helped carry and ran for the water...Ty was not to far behind. So after we arrived Amanda and Mike came and provided us with some shade. Then Kelly and Andy came with some more shade. Not far behind the Springer's were the Sorensen's. Once everyone got settled in Brandon took all the guys out on the water. The kids played in the water and collected lake shells and a couple of them caught a few dead fish. Mike took Kaitlyn, Megan and Ty all on a ride on the wave runner. Kaitlyn the fearless loved it and Megan didn't like it at all, and Ty I think nearly fell asleep. Mike also hooked the three man tube to the wave runner and all the kids got a turn. Finally Brandon came back with the boat and it was the women's turn. Since the water was so choppy we decided to just go tubing. It was me, Kathrin, and Camille first. It was sooo fun! Brandon is an expert at whipping that tube. Our first time around nobody was thrown off. Amanda was the next to join Camille and myself on the tube of terror. We did pretty good, but all it took was one good whip and Camille was thrown off. After that it didn't take long for Brandon to get all three of us off. Camille's face met Amanda's shoulder the last time we were thrown off so Kelly came and joined Amanda and I. The first whip by the boat my darn long legs were tossed off the tube into the water. They were like dead wait. I couldn't pull them up to save my life. I was finally dragged in the water by my legs. Some where through out this the cap came off and the air in the tube came out. So that was the end of the girls turn on the boat. We went back to shore and everyone started to pack up. I stopped and got the kids some lunch and they all were fast asleep by the time we got home. We had an awesome time at Sand Hallow with some of our very best friends. Thanks to the Schank's for the invite and the use of their boat. And to the Hills for the use of their wave runners. YA'LL ROCK!

What a Weekend!

What a weekend! Wayne and I have had many world wind weekends, but I think that this one takes the cake. We left on Friday afternoon after Megan got out of school and headed up to Sanatquin. I was excited and nervous because we were trying to make my 10 year high school reunion. I hadn't planned on going because I only went to Payson High my senior year and only new a hand full of people. I knew that most if not all weren't going to be there. But I did have one very close friend tell me that she was going, so I decide to go thinking that I wasn't sure when I would be able to see her again. My reunion was suppose to start at 6:30 p.m. and we made it to my sisters house at 6:20pm. The closer we got to Payson the more nervous I got. When we pulled up and got our name tags I started to scan through the crowed and started to worry that nobody I new had shown up. Then I saw Angela and Hyrum two of the frist people I made friends with my senior year. Then Alleen appeared and a small level of comfort set in. We had dinner, caught up on life, and talked about old times. I am really glad I went and plan on going to every one after.

Saturday was also a big day. Not only was it my cousin Erika's wedding, but it was Alabama's first football game of the year. They played Clemson who is ranked 9th. Wayne is happy to announce that Alabama kicked the stew out of Clemson. Let's hope this is a sign for things to come. So while Ty and Wayne watched the big game I went to SLC with Megan, Kaitlyn and my sister Karri for Erika's wedding.

Sunday we all drove out to Wayne's parents house in Goshen to celebrate our nephew Austin's 9th birthday. Wayne's brother Scott and his family were also in town and it was nice to be able to visit with them. It is usually hit and miss when they come to town and it has been since Christmas (i think) since we saw them last. Megan, Kaitlyn and Ty enjoyed playing with all their cousins especially Myllie and Ethan. We all stuffed ourselves full with good food and caught up on life. I would have to say Wayne's family get togethers are one of my favorite things that we do.
Monday was a girls day. Audra, Angela,Gale, Julia and myself went to see Mamma Mia! I have seen Mamma Mia once already, but I think it was better the second time around. After the movie we went and had lunch at Wingers. It was really nice getting out and spending time with my in-laws (and not having any kids is always a plus). After lunch we went back out to Goshen and visited a little while longer before we decided to head for home.
So as you can see we stuffed as much as we could into one weekend. We had a lot of fun, but we are sooo glad to be home.
Thanks to Janara & Jermay for watching our kids on Friday. And my parents/Audra & Lynn for giving us a place to rest our heads.

AMA National Hare & Hound in Wendover

So this past weekend while I was in Las Vegas with Amanda and Carla, Wayne was in Wendover taking on an AMA National Hare & Hound 100 mile desert race in Wendover. I would say we were both being pushed to our limits. There was just too much to choose from... Not knowing what to buy... I was on the edge of insanity ( not really, but I did have to make some tough decisions). Wayne was out in the Wendover desert in the blistering heat just trying to keep his 3rd place position which he had held for almost 70 miles. Knowing that I would not let him come home without a trophy. I waited all afternoon to hear from Wayne. Around 5p.m. ( I think) I got a text message telling me how it went. This was Wayne's best race yet. Out of 100 riders in the Novice class Wayne came in 9th over all and 1st (that's right) 1st in his age group of 30 yrs. and older. Now let me remind you that this was a 100 mile race in 100+ degree heat. There were many accidents at this race. One with a Pro rider crashing so bad he is now in a coma due to the large amount of swelling in his brain and another guy with a broken femur. I feel blessed that Wayne only came home with a few scrapes and bruises. I also want to thank Wayne's pit crew... my amazing bro-in-law Jeramy. Without him this race wouldn't have been possible. Congrats Wayne on an amazing race! We are all sooo proud of you!
