AMA National Hare & Hound in Wendover

So this past weekend while I was in Las Vegas with Amanda and Carla, Wayne was in Wendover taking on an AMA National Hare & Hound 100 mile desert race in Wendover. I would say we were both being pushed to our limits. There was just too much to choose from... Not knowing what to buy... I was on the edge of insanity ( not really, but I did have to make some tough decisions). Wayne was out in the Wendover desert in the blistering heat just trying to keep his 3rd place position which he had held for almost 70 miles. Knowing that I would not let him come home without a trophy. I waited all afternoon to hear from Wayne. Around 5p.m. ( I think) I got a text message telling me how it went. This was Wayne's best race yet. Out of 100 riders in the Novice class Wayne came in 9th over all and 1st (that's right) 1st in his age group of 30 yrs. and older. Now let me remind you that this was a 100 mile race in 100+ degree heat. There were many accidents at this race. One with a Pro rider crashing so bad he is now in a coma due to the large amount of swelling in his brain and another guy with a broken femur. I feel blessed that Wayne only came home with a few scrapes and bruises. I also want to thank Wayne's pit crew... my amazing bro-in-law Jeramy. Without him this race wouldn't have been possible. Congrats Wayne on an amazing race! We are all sooo proud of you!

First Day of First Grade

Today was Megan's first day of 1st grade. On Saturday we went to the school to meet her teacher Mrs. Prisbrey. She got to see her class room and put her name on a little red paper car showing that she gets picked up in a car after school. Wayne and I really like Mrs. Prisbrey so far. She seems like she will be a really fun teacher for Megan. Today however was the big day. Megan woke up at 7 a.m. this morning by herself. It's pretty ironic that she did cause she has been asking for her own alarm clock. Wayne and I told her that we would wake her up in plenty of time and in the end she didn't even need us. She picked out a cute pair of jeans and her white shirt with aqua hearts on it. We did her hair in her favorite style. She calls it her "rock n' roll " hair. At 8:30 we headed down to the school. I showed her where to take her lunch money and then walked her to her class to make sure she new what room was hers. She was very patient with me and let me take pictures of her first day. I gave her a hug and told her good-bye. I thought that it would be sooo easy to just let her go all day, but I found myself looking at the clock alot and trying to find things to do to keep my mind off of not having her around. It was alot harder for me having her gone all day. I was relived when 3:15 came around and I was able to go down to the school and wait for her to walk out of her classroom. It was nice to hear that I was not the only mother having trouble letting her 1st grader go today. Kelly was also feeling the same way about Hayden. When Megan's class room door opened it took all my strength not to run up to her and hold and hug her and tell her she is never leaving me for that long again (that would have really embarrassed her). I walked to her class, casually called her name and asked her how her day was. She said that it was good and she then let me take more pictures of her and as we got into the car shetold me all about her day. Her favorite part of the day was eating lunch in the cafeteria (like daughter like mother). She is growing up so fast. I am usually the kind of mom that can't wait until my kids are older, but having Megan gone all day was really hard. I now want her to stay little forever. She is my sweet Mae Mae, my little helper, my best friend. I want her to know I am so proud of her and love her very much!

Pool Side

Yesterday I took the kids to the Washington Community Center pool for one more big day of fun before school started. I wasn't sure what to expect when we got there and was totally surprised at the facilities. The play area was awesome. The girls were the first ones in the pool. It just wouldn't be the best last day of summer vaca without friends. The girls enjoyed playing with the Hill, Springer, Scott, Schank, and Grodiga (I know that is totally spelled wrong) kids. They all get along so well it really does make for an enjoyable day. Not only do they have this amazing playground, but they also have a quick moving lazy river that takes you outside. It has a small play area for the really little ones with sides and swings. And best of all the have a tube side that is not for the fainthearted.
Everyone was having such a good time that it was hard to get them to stay still long enough to get some pictures. I finally gave up and enjoyed my time with my kids and friends.

Santaquin Days!

This past weekend Wayne and I took the kids back up to Santaquin for Santaquin Days! It has kind of become a tradition in our family. I think that we have maybe missed it once of twice since we have been married. Our main reason for going is to show support for my Dad. He is on the Santaquin City Council and has been in charge of Santaquin Days Activities for a few years now. Our favorite things we go to is the Parade, Carnival at the park and the Rodeo. Yep the man in white is my dad. This is by far the best "candy" parade in Utah. It's almost as good as trick or treating. The Santaquin Parade seems to be getting better every year. This year is was awesome. It kept even the littlest of minds (Ty) entertained for an hour or two. Not only was my dad in the parade, but so was my brother-in-law and my two nephews. My brother-in-law Jeramy is a firefighter in Santaquin and one of the perks is that he gets to drive one of the trucks and his boys get to throw out the candy.Usually after the parade we head over to the park and enjoy the entertainment, food, booths, and activities for the kids. This year Santaquin City bought some of the blow up jumpy slides and castles for the kids, and had pony rides and a treasure hunt.

I think the girls favorite part was the pony ride. We spent hours at the park just me and the girls. Wayne and Ty went to the mud diggs out in Goshen to have a little male bonding. After the park we went back to my parents house and waited til it was time to go the Rodeo. The Rodeo was fun. This year Megan and Kaitlyn were able to get their picture taken with Miss Santaquin. Tyson mainly loved going over by the cows and running up and down the hill with his cousin Ashlyn.

We had a wonderful time! We want to thank my parents for putting up with us during this weekend. Dad we appreciate all the hard work you put into this weekend ( you to mom). I can honestly say that that was the best Sanatquin Days ever!
